On the heels of an incredibly successful Thanksgiving Giveback, more families are in need of our help than ever. 2022 saw the largest increase in childhood hunger around Christmas since 2008, and this year is projected to be worse.
As temperatures begin to cool and holiday expenses pile up, we need your help to ensure 15,000 families can give their children the holiday they deserve. No child deserves to go without gifts, food, and a warm coat this December. Join the So What Else Holiday Hearts of Gratitude movement today!
Sponsor a Family
For a gift of $36, you can ensure even the most vulnerable families in your community have everything they need for a merry and bright holiday celebration.
Every donation sent to So What Else covers the cost of purchasing and distributing food, coats, blankets, and toys for a struggling family across the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area.
Host a Drive for So What Else
Our clients are in critical need of a number of items ahead of the holidays. Consider hosting a donation drive at your school, office, church, or community center to help us meet our goal.
We are looking for donations of the following:
- Toys (for all ages)
- Shelf-stable food items
- Blankets
- Coats
- Hygiene items (such as deodorant, soap, feminine care products, toothpaste, etc.)
If you're unable to host a drive, consider donating or purchasing items on the list above to So What Else!
Montgomery County: Donations can be dropped-off Monday to Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm, and Saturdays from 8:00am to 1:00pm, at our Montgomery County Pantry.
Baltimore City: Donations can be dropped-off on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00am to 2:00pm at our Baltimore Resource Center, 424 S Pulaski St, Baltimore, MD.

So What Else's mission is to improve the lives of children and families living in underserved communities in the Baltimore-Washington Metro Area by providing food security, access to basic necessities, and high-quality out-of-school time programs in literacy, athletics, and the visual and performing arts while inspiring young people to give back to the community by creating volunteer opportunities for citizens of all ages.
