The So What Else Youth Summer Olympics is a free, full-day local community event designed to promote youth health, wellness, and unity through movement and fun! As part of our summer camp curriculum, we are bringing together our campers across the DC Metro area to get moving and have fun together!
Youth participants will represent different “countries” (i.e., SWE summer camp sites) and compete in Olympic-style games, fostering team spirit and cross-community connection.
This event celebrates the values of the Olympics—friendship, peace, and diversity—through movement, leadership and social skills, and learning.
What to expect at the event:
- Team Events: Relay races, kickball, ultimate frisbee, team challenges
- Skill Competitions: Basketball shootouts, soccer goalie challenge, field goal contests, long jump/triple jump, hockey shootout, home run derby
- Wellness Zones:
- Yoga
- Martial arts
- Fitness/wellness challenges
- Arts and crafts
- Smoothie and juice stations
Lunch and snacks provided!

Volunteer
Do you want to support in-person at the event? We need helping ensuring the event runs smoothly all day! We are looking for volunteers to run all of the activities stations, as well as lead dynamic and engaging workshops throughout the event.

So What Else’s mission is to improve the lives of children and families living in underserved communities in the Baltimore-Washington Metro Area. We provide food security, access to basic necessities, and high-quality out-of-school time programs in literacy, athletics, and the visual and performing arts.
