During this challenging time, our organization stands with federal employees and contractors impacted by the ongoing government shutdown. We recognize the uncertainty many families are facing, and we’re here to help.

Each day of a government shutdown costs the average federal worker an average of $290—a powerful reminder of how urgently families need stability and support in uncertain times.

We’re launching a new relief initiative to ensure that no one in our community goes without essential support. Starting this week, we’ve dedicated weekday and weekend time slots exclusively for federal employees and contractors to visit our food pantry.

Support Available for Federal Workers Affected by the Shutdown:

Weekdays & Weekends:
Visit during our scheduled hours to receive fresh groceries and pantry staples. On weekends, you can also drive up for easy, contactless food pickup.

Additional Support:
Diapers will be available for families who need them during every distribution day.

Special Distribution Day – Sunday, November 2nd:
Join us for a dedicated day exclusively for federal employees and contractors, where we’ll have extended hours and additional supplies to support you and your family. 9am- 3pm at 4924 Wyaconda Road Rockville MD, 20817.

This initiative will continue until the federal shutdown is resolved. No one should face this hardship alone — we’re here to help you get through it together.

Join Us in Supporting Federal Workers Impacted by the Shutdown:

As many federal employees face uncertainty during the shutdown, So What Else is stepping up to provide meals, groceries, and essential items to impacted families. You can make a direct difference by donating today, your contribution helps us rent an additional refrigerated truck, increase staffing, and deliver thousands of meals to families in need across our region.

We’re also gratefully accepting food donations at our Rockville warehouse, located at 4924 Wyaconda Road, Rockville, MD 20852. Items like non perishable food and fresh meat, dairy, and produce will be accepted. Donations can be dropped off Monday–Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Every box of food, every dollar, and every hour volunteered helps ensure no family goes hungry during this time.
